Default Adirondacks.

I plan to spend a couple of days in Northern NY, the Lake George or Lake
Champlain areas, perhaps. I would welcome any advice on where to stay or what
to do. We're outdoor types, like to hike, and prefer B&Bs, small hotels, or
cabins. Thanks in advance.

There are hundreds if not thousands of miles of hiking trails in the
Adirondacks. The Adirondack Mountain Club sells guide books to all parts of
the Adirondacks. They also have their headquarters on Route 9N, just west
of Lake George village.

There is so much I just don't know where to start. There are some nice
mountains to hike just around Lake George. If you're up by Lake Champlain,
you won't be far from the high peaks.

I used to live in the area, and will be visiting again this summer,
for the first time since '93. We're going to stay in Lake Placid,
which has better hiking than the lakes you've mentioned.

Anyway, you should get the very nice printed guide materials the
Adirondack Region produces:
