Default Wireless Internet and Cell Phones on Ships

I read where Carnival Cruise Lines has installed wireless Internet on
most of their ships from stem to stern and only a few areas are not
accessible. You can access the Internet from your cabin and most
public areas. 75 cents a minute. You can bet they will try and sell
you a package for the entire cruise. Depends on how much you need
your email. I figure if my life would stop if I didn't have email, I
wouldn't even consider a cruise at that rate.

They are also dealing with a company to provide cell phone usage
aboard the ships. Pricing wasn't available yet, but you can bet your
doggie towel it won't be cheap. Most likely via Satellite unless they
plan to stagger cell towers out in the ocean. Again, if I required
cell phone usage, I would just stay home.

Come on people, what did you do before all this technology arrived?

Ya know, I'll bet someone posted the same d*&n thing when steam
replaced sail..."C'mon, you go on ships to get away from the
mechanical age..."

One person's meat is another person sacrilege, some folks won't go to
sea if there's not a shaman of their particular religion hodling
services on board..different things are needful for different people
and who are you to tell others what they need or don't need? There's
people in parts of the world so poor that if they saved up for their
entire life and sold their children on the open market couldn't afford
a three day cruise on Carnival, so do any of us *nned* a cruise at
all?

Oddly enough, some people have obligations that don't shut off just
because they are on vacation or others have dependencies on them. My
wife co-writes with people from all over the world..the entire group's
work should come to a halt just because we take a vacation? I think
not. For her, it's part of the relaxation just to kick back in our
cabina nd work on her writing while the ship gently sways..she loves
it.
