Take trip on the river (preferably one with a tourist one with commentary
(if you have never visited). It will give you a good view of Bangkok. Depending on how late you get there, you could get on and off and wander around in areas that appeal - Chinatown, grand palace. If you are interesting in shopping the street markets (Pratunam) are fun, as are some of the big shopping centres like MBK that have to be seen to be believed! Next time try and stay longer. Bangkok is wonderful. wrote in message oups.com... Depending on where you're coming from you might be too jet-lagged to really enjoy anything. The main tourist sights aren't easily accessible at night, or are closed. You can take a boat trip on Chao Phrya but if you don't have a hotel you might have a hard time arranging it. Are you planning on a hotel? If so, which one. We could recommend stuff close to that hotel. |

We like shopping in Bangkok - souvenirs, handicrafts, silk (real and
fake), more handicrafts ... Incredible shopping at the Chatuchak Weekend Market from 8am to 6pm on Saturday or Sunday, if you are arriving early enough or leaving late enough. Otherwise, the Suan Lum Night Bazaar is open until midnight. It is supposed to be closed down for redevelopment, but according to Wikipedia, many merchants remained open as of July. And there are some stalls at night in Patpong, amidst the girlie bars. I don't know how late the longtail boat drivers are up, but if you find one still awake you can rent it for an hour or two and get a night tour of the river and the klongs. - Walt Bilofsky wrote: I have an overnight stop over in Bangkok on a Sat night... what are the must see things for a first time visitor to Bangkok that are doable in one evening...
