Tonight Pokerstars is running a kickoff special of 10 seats guaranteed
to Macau. Your $4500 package includes $2500 tournament entry, $600
hotel and $1400 cash for air travel. I happened to check airline
travel to Macau (MKM) using Expedia and found its twice as expensive
to fly to Macau as to Hong Kong. It cost $1400+ to Hong Kong and
$3000+ to Macau. during the tournament time (Thanksgiving).

Before anyone commits their resources to win a package to Macau, they
might want to explore the cost of getting there. It might be less
expensive flying to Hong Kong and taking a slow boat across the South
China Sea to Macau.

"Slow boat"? There's a 45-minute ferry ride.

Anyone having an inside scoop to travel options to Macau please share!

Expedia, Travelocity, Yahoo, etc. are not a good place to find flights
to Asia.

Try Flight Centre or STA Travel, two good discount travel agencies.
STA is mostly a student travel agency, but they can have very good
deals for non-students.

Some of the best deals are travel agents in Asian communities, since
Asian airlines often use them to dump large blocks of unsold seats
cheaply - go to your local Chinatown and look for a travel agent
there, or look in your newspapers' Sunday travel section for an Asian-
specialist travel agency.

When I took that ride years ago it was one of those fast hydrofoil things
that made me sick as a dog. Beware if you get motion sick.

To the OP. Try using Kayak.com. I don't know what time you are going
over, but Eva has flights in the $1,000 range to Macau.
