There was a story floating around the web last year about this guy. I don't
remember all the details, but the meat of the story was that his mother had
some kind of debilitating illness and he kept her locked up in a closet
because he wanted her to change her will so that he would inherit the house.

And why are you repeating this libel? Please cite your source.
I'd like to document every occurence of this "story".

When it's snowing at 25 degrees a fur hat is very sensible.

All of which has nothing to do with the fact that the full
refunds to the pax were completely justified, in spite of what
this newsgroup's favorite cruise line pimps want everyone to
think.

Thank you, Ray. I like the part where it says, "At a hearing Thursday
afternoon, which lasted a little more than five minutes, (Judge) Weeks
denied the request."

The request was denied because the City cancelled the trip of
city officials to an illegal private meeting in Vancouver with
the cruise association, a meeting I was trying to stop with my
request for an injunction. They would have gone to the illegal
meeting if I hadn't sued. I wasn't served with the city's reply
until about 3 minutes before the hearing.

I lost the battle, but I won that war; after that, they had to
meet with the industry in public. They had lost a similar open
meeting act lawsuit the year before (regarding flightseeing
noise).

Alaska has a very strong open meetings law, and Alaskans
occasionally have to remind elected officials that they MUST obey
it. In this case they did, so my lawsuit was moot. He would
have had the city attorney right back in court if they had
violated the Act again.

You can try to spin it as a defeat for me, but I accomplished
what I intended.
