You may want to look at the reviews of the Alaskan Cruises at www.seacruisereviews.com. One of the best tours we have taken, we got on the dockside in, I think it was Jeaneu. One of the Eskimo Tribes was running the tour and did a really good job of telling you about the city, and took you to the different places. It has been quite a number of years, but I think I wrote up a review. I believe the trip was on the Windward, but we did Alaska on a number of different ships. This is if you are not doing the Glacier tour. (It all sort of runs togehter now.) roland |

If you are in Seward, don't miss the 6 hour Kenai Fjords cruise if you can schedule it in, this was my very favorite! Laura |

Take the White Pass train in Skagway. Take bus up or down and reverse on
the train! Just got back 2 weeks ago. The "Duck" in Keticican (sp) was fun too. G "***HOLLY" wrote in message news:ZEMre.56360$HI.48446@edtnps84... Congratulations on your cruise to Alaska. While in port there are
quite a number of options available to you on your Alaska cruise. All different price ranges and different levels of activity. A couple of the tours are exclusive to the cruise lines when they are in port, such as the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad in Skagway and the Taku Glacier Lodge experience in Juneau, so you must book them through your cruise line. Many of the others can be booked in advance. I have found the whale watching adventure in Juneau to be a 'must do' and the Yukon Discovery 4 x 4 adventure in Skagway is also getting rave reviews. Juneau calls are usually long enough for you to do an excursion in the morning and one in the afternoon. For a couple of reasons, whale watching is better when it is cloudy or overcast so plan on that for the morning as that is typical of Juneau weather. Plan on having lunch in between at the restaurant at the top of Mt. Roberts. They have exceptional seafood chowder and wow what a view! The cruise lines offer very descriptive excursion pages on their websites. Just remember...The Best Parts of Alaska are OUT OF TOWN! http://www.alaskacruises.com/alaska_...excursions.asp www.alaskacruises.com |
