Default Puerto Chiapas: Mexico's Newest Cruise Port

Mexico's newest port, Puerto Chiapas, will welcome its first passenger
ship, one of Holland America's vessels, in early February. The port is
located 225 nautical miles south of Huatulco and 110 nautical miles
north of Guatemala's Puerto Quetzal in the southern state of Chiapas.
Offering favorable access to the nearby Panama Canal, Puerto Chiapas
makes for an interesting variation on current trans-canal cruises on the
market. With the port, Chiapas will have the opportunity to showcase its
wide range of natural, cultural and historic attractions, including
access to Palenque, one of the Mayan world's most important
archeological sites.
**
While millions of tourists flock to Mexico every year by land and air,
the country has also become the world's top cruise destination. Mexico
boasts many port cities, among them Cozumel on the Caribbean, Puerto
Vallarta on the Pacific coast and Los Cabos where the Sea of Cortez and
the Pacific Ocean meet. In addition to being bustling metropolises in
their own right, offering the best in shopping, cultural activities and
cuisine to the traveler, most ports are also located just a stone's
throw from the country's leading archaeological treasures and other
attractions.

Default Puerto Chiapas: Mexico's Newest Cruise Port

It appears that the original article coming from a Mexican source meant
to identify the World of ResidenSea as being the first passenger vessel
greeted at the new cruise port of Puerto Chiapas ... and the Holland
American Line vessels will not start their port visits until Jan 07:
