Default Help with travel to Kosovo

My next long shot question :-)

I'm off to Belgrade next week and am trying to include a trip to Kosovo into
the schedule.

What I've discovered so far is:

1) No-one will let me take a hire car into Kosovo. I don't think there's
anywhere suitable to just park up at the border and walk over.

2) There are three buses a day from Belgrade to Pristina, but two are
"overnight", with a not particularly useful arrival of before 04:00 and the
third arrives at 17:30 meaning that I will have to have pre-booked
accommodation. (from http://www.bas.co.rs/)

3) It's theoretically possible to travel via Skopje, from whence there is a
more useful bus schedule, but if you then go back to Skopje, FCO advice says
that Serbia border guards on the SRB-MK border don't let you in if you have
a Kosovo stamp in your passport for this border crossing. Other sources say
that this doesn't happen any more, but as I'm flying back from Belgrade I'm
not sure that I can take the risk. (Note that everybody agrees that you
can't go SRE-Skopje-Pristina-SRE or v.v.)

4) There is (apparently) a bus from Nis, but I can't find the timetable.

Does anybody have anything that they can add to this?

TIA

tim

You really think this group will help you out ?
You'll get 30 year old memories, funny jokes by horne and martin and 2 OT
words from michaelnewport at the best.
My own post will be republished elsewhere by greg morrow and vogtgamble will
dribble along all about the US.
Wasting time here, go consult the german speaking forums, you'll have much
more chances to get a real answer.
Of course, understanding german would be a help, nicht wahr ?

I prefer it to Kosovo, but prefer Le Cannet to Nice.

My advice, for what it's worth, would be .........don't bother!

Kosovo (Pristina) is a pain to get in to, a dump when you get there, and a
pain to get out of.
There's nothing in Pristina (or, come to that, in the whole of Kosovo) that
you can't see elsewhere in the Balkans - apart from KFOR troops.

If you are really determined to go, IYP's Pristina guide has a lot of useful
info - http://www.inyourpocket.com/kosovo/city/pristina.html

It is much of that that makes interesting :-(

I have discovered that Pec/Peja/Pejé is the place to go, and that it is a
easy day trip from Pristina (by bus or train). However the only reason for
doing as a day trip at all is because Pristina is the only place that I can
find hotel info on. If I know that I can find a reasonable hotel in Pec I
can directly go there.

And there's Gracanica Monastry, a very easy bus trip from Pristina

If you are really determined to go, IYP's Pristina guide has a lot of
useful info - http://www.inyourpocket.com/kosovo/city/pristina.html

I have this already

thanks.

How about this one then http://hotelamsterdam-ks.info/en/ in Gjakove. The
staff look really welcoming for a Wessie with plenty of Euros.
Like I said earlier, Tim, Kosovo is a dump.
