Default Transport costs Chicago O'Hare to Downtown / McCormack Place, return

How much is cost of transport (daily, return) from O'Hare to Downtown /
McCormack Place? May do this over a number of days to overcome expensive
downtown hotel rates. Will stay at hotel close to ORD. Prefer coach / bus.
Are there websites where I can check for information?
Thanks

The El, the municial railway, runs from O'Hare to downtown, with a
fare of $2 each way, perhaps a little less if you buy a five-day pass
for $18. But it is 23 miles from McCormick PLace and you will have to
take two trains and maybe a bus and spend an hour each way, so I
wouldn't. There's nothing to do near the airport (I've checked) so
you'll be spending time on the train(s) rather than at your meeting
or going to restaurants and clubs of which Chicago has many.

The prices at the McCormick Place Hyatt are ridiculous, but you can
usually find hotels in downtown Chicago between $100 and $150 which
are a lot closer. Try looking on Orbitz or Expedia and tell them
you want McCormick Place, but then sort by price.

John

Downtown hotels are c. $400 per night for 19th to 23 rd May,,,obviously
because of some events. So it is simpler to be close to airport for a) to
check in after later arrival, and b) easy departure.
Since my original post I have found out the train indeed is much cheaper and
convenient,,,runs around the clock. So to get to McCormick Place, I would
try and just come to one of the downtown hotels and hop on the courtesy
buses running shuttles. Reverse for return.
Yes, restaurants and clubs in near north area are attractions but I have
been to Chicago numerous times so there is no real pull for me. I could
though go out one evening,,,Buddy Guy Club is of particular interest! Thanks
for feedback.

Try and find a hotel within walking distance of the Rosemont or
Cumberland stations, the ones just outside the airport, or you'll
spend an extra half hour each way at the airport end waiting for the
shuttle to your hotel. The only hotel you can walk to from the
airport station is the Hilton which is not cheap.

Check out http://tripsweb.rtachicago.com which will tell you how
to get from any address in Chicago to any other by public
transportation.

If you have a choice, you might trying flying into Midway airport, and stay
at one of the nearby hotels. The CTA trains will get you to McCormick
place faster than coming from O'Hare.

Bull****. You were born in 1958. Your father was most likely too old to serve in Vietnam.
Unless your parents were white trash who start having children at 15.

How old was too old to serve in Vietnam? 20? 30? 40?
The Wall list names from 1959 to 1975.
That's a period of time from when I was 1 to 17.

If my father was 18 when I was born, then he could have been 19 to 35 at
the time of death

If my father was 30 when I was born, then he could have been 31 to 47 at
the time of death.

Over 2500 officers and 3500 enlisted people were over the age of 30 when
killed in the war.
