Default Crown and Anchor changes

Royal Caribbean is having a press conference later today to announce
changes to their loyalty program. Cruise points based on nights you
cruise and type of stateroom. (double for suites) There are two pages
up already which show the new levels and benefits.

Interesting.. if they do it retroactively it will probably finally bump
me to Platinum since I had been at the base level at 4 cruises (not a
big deal for the rest of you, obviously, but we got stuck there and have
not been on RCI in the last few years). Presumably nothing about merging
their program with Celebrity (where we are also one cruise away from
their next level).

They are doing it retroactively but grandfathering in previous status. If
you check your status online I think you will find yourself bumped up. You
will also be Select on Celebrity now the way I interpret it. They still are
doing parallel track.

It's an interesting calculation. They took the number of nights sailed
and added additional points. It did not change my status, but I didn't
expect it to.

I knew I wanted to book a Celebrity cruise on my 1/2/11 Voyager sailing
so I called Captain's Club and gave them my C&A number and they gave me
a Captain's Club number with Elite status. That gave me a $100 savings
on a slightly better location balcony cabin. With the free drinks on
Celebrity's Elite program, who needs a concierge.
