Hi,
I am sure you all heard about the recent Eurostar cancellations which
happened over 17th March.

I had a weekend break booked with a travel company called Driveline who had
a package deal for eurostar + hotel.

Since eurostar was cancelled for that weekend there was no way to travel and
hence they refunded travel cost of Eurostar, but refuse to refund the cost
of the hotel rooms
charging me £51.00
I this is unfair and unjust for us as we could under no circumstances travel
and cant select an alternative date.
Is there some where I can turn too for help and guidance?
I have spoken to the company and they refuse to refund the money.
I had booked via Egg credit card and did request them to hold the
transaction but seems as if the payment has already gone thru.

Need some advice and help please!!
J

Driveline are a member of ABTA so you could make a complaint to them.

Thanks for your response JohnT.
Do you think I have a valid point to raise?

If it was a package, booked together, yes you do. It may well be that ABTA
invite you to go to arbitration, which may cost more than the amount
disputed. In which case you could go to the Small Claims Court.

Sounds like a crappy way to get a decent resolution! Another
alternative is to go somewhat public about it - like you already have!

Alerting Driveline to this thread can be enough to get their
attention, and make them want to resolve it quickly. Post all the
email replies you get back from them.

Try it, because they possibly will just want to shut you up.

My first job in bookkeeping involved making collection calls
to debtors whose accounts were delinquent. When I expressed
concern about calling too often (after getting "the check is
in the mail" responses) my employer advised me: "The
squeaky wheel gets the grease". Good advice, which I have
never hesitated to follow in situations like Jay's, when I
felt I had a legitimate complaint.
