Cybercafes in Norway
Hello all.
Does anyone have a comprehensive list of cybercafes in Norway? I've seen the list that's linked through the forum FAQ which is a start, but I wondered if anyone has a list that covers cybercafes in some of the more obscure areas? Me and the missus will be going on the Norwegian Coastal Voyage, visiting the following towns: Bergen Floro Maloy Torvik Alesund Geiranger Molde Kristiansund Trondheim Rorvik Bronnoysund Sandnessjoen Nesna Ornes Bodo Stamsund Svolvaer Stokmarknes Sortland Risoyhamn Harstad Finnsnes Tromso Skjervoy Oksfjord Hammerfest Havoysund Honningsvag Kjollefjord Mehamn Berlevag Batsfjord Vardo Vadso Kirkenes Cheers, Alastair |

Libraries may have free internet terminals; Bergen does.
At least one of the larger coastal steamers has onboard internet terminals, although at high prices and the cashier seems often absent. What steamer are you taking - each boat is very different - you can query this online. Most of your stops won't be during hours such a netcafe would be open, or will be in towns too small to support such a place, or your stop will be way too brief for such a visit (which would be anyway a poor use of time compared to other rare opportunities). Maybe ask at the tour desk onboard before departing for each brief stopover... |

I am planning to do a real-time web diary of our trip (photos and stuff) and onboard facilities would make that a lot easier. Are you taking your laptop? You might want to look in to the possibilities of using a GSM phone, with a local SIM (Netcom and Telenor are the two main companies, but there are also some 'virtual' networks). You'd have a variety of data options, GSM or GPRS, depending on the phone you buy. As you wouldn't be on contract, it could work out quite expensive, but very convenient. If this is something you'd plan to do in the future, it could be a worthwhile investment. David -- David Horne- www.davidhorne.co.uk davidhorne (at) davidhorne (dot) co (dot) uk |

Thanks David. Going the laptop route is something I'm considering
should there be a lack of onboard web facilities. (David Horne) wrote in message news:1g2eso4.2m5iticy1m55N%this_address_is_for_sp ...
