Best Crossing I-90 Westbound to QEW to Hamilton (Buffalo vicinity)
Traveling westbound from NY Thruway (I-90) to QEW toward Hamilton.
Any current opinions on best crossing point? Interested if any current construction or changes would change recommendations between the Peace and Lewsiton Bridge when going from I-90 Westbound in NY to QEW in Ontario toward Hamilton. Last year we took the Peace Bridge and traffic seemed to flow better but was 5-10 miles longer as I recall. So about the same time or slightly longer overall. We will be crossing into Canada about 3PM on a Saturday. Thanks for any tips. |

The question was Peace Bridge vs. Lewiston-Queenston. He has to decide before reaching Buffalo, never mind Niagara Falls. Does this station cover the Peace Bridge as well as the ones nearer Niagara Falls? -- Mark Brader, Toronto "Don't get clever at 5PM Friday." -- Tom Van Vleck |

Just remember that you will now need a passport to go across. Also, the QEW is under major reconstruction in St. Catharines. So, just watch out there. |

I find either Queenston-Lewiston or the Peace Bridge crossings to be about the same, though Queenston-Lewiston used to have a lot more cross border shopping. Special events don't usually affect mid afternoon crossing into Canada. The construction in St. Catharines is not a problem. The speed limit is reduced to 80 kph and usually moves right along. It is only about 2 miles of construction. |

Canada won't let you in without proper ID because they want to make sure you can get back into the US. For that you need a passport, Nexus, or the Enhanced Drivers License. If you can show that you can get back into the US, you are welcome. -- Martha Canada .. |

What are they gonna do if you don't have one? deport you? From what I've read, it's getting to the point that in order to get a passport, you need to put a request in for one for several months before you need it. After all, Bush and company declared every american citizen was a terrorist. |
