Default "meet the locals" in USA/Canada

Hi

I wonder if there is some sort of organisation in the U.S/Canada that
arranges for tourists to get invited to meet and get to know
americans/canadians? You know, sort of a culture interchange? It
should not
be for longer visits, like months, but for a day or night?

Have you been in military or police service? The Royal Canadian Legion
and the American Legion operate social clubs everywhere in N. America.
