Default United Seeks 3rd Extension On Reorganization Plan

United Airlines has asked a US bankruptcy court to extend until June
30 a March 8 deadline for it to submit its own reorganization plan. It
was the third time that the carrier, the world's second largest airline
had asked the Chicago court to extend the period of exclusivity under
Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

Ouch, the third time.

Is a company usually granted an extention for the 3rd time and if the
bankruptcy court delines, what does that mean for United?

FWIW, From a friend who's a United 1st officer out of Miami. United is
closing their Miami base as of May 1st. They are also giving up some S.
America routes from Miami. Miami will become just another stop on their
route like Jacksonville or Orlando.

My friend will have to dead head to SF to start his flights. He thinks
of it as a 5hr 3k mile commute to work.

Given the size of United, the BK trustee is likely to give them as many as
five. After that, the trustee may conclude that management doesn't have
what it takes and will step in and appoint his own management for the
airline, and start selling it off most likely until it is of the size that
it's earning capacity can support.

They are also trying to screw their retirees out of medical benefits (fer

How early (before his scheduled work flight) does he have to arrive?

Are there any FAA rules requiring certain amounts of sleep before working?

How would they enforce that?

just "time not on duty" - not "sleep"
