Upgrade or not to upgrade
Hi all,
My wife and I are currently book on the 9/4/04 sailing of the carribean princess. We are currently in cat BC on the Aloha deck. We have the oppourtunity to upgrade to a cat BA on the Lido deck for the same price. I realize that our balcony would be more private...but it is on the same deck as the pool nad a longer elevator ride/walk from the dining rooms and other public rooms. I just want some opinions. Thanks in advance, Dave P.S. Ray..I'll be calling you myself to get your opinion verbally. |

If the boat hits some 20 ft waves you're less likely to feel it. So it takes a little more to get to public rooms. After dinner and those buffets you'll welcome the chance to walk it off. The real plus, you can fall out of bed practically and go to the pool. You can bring your breakfast back from the buffet and have it on your balcony. -- ________ To email me, Edit "xt" from my email address. Brian M. Hi Brian, As a matter of clarification, the higher you are on a ship the more likely you are to feel the motion. Hi Brian, As a matter of clarification, the higher you are on a ship the more likely you are to feel the motion. To further expand Ray's point, the least amount of motion is felt in the middle of the ship (e.g., see http://www.traveljobz.com/cruise-shi...iling-tips.asp). It is no surprise therefore, that on many of Carnival's ships, the most expensive staterooms are located in the middle of the ship. But, some folks obviously like the view and other amenities from being higher up on the ship. |

Dunno about the Carib Princess, but on the Grand and Golden, the balcony cabins on lower decks have much large balconies. Howie |

My lady and I sailed RCs Splendor over Thanksgiving last year and were offered an upgrade which we took. (Dumb move). I have been told, since, an upgrade is a less desireable location. They put us in the most forward cabin two decks higher and we encountered rough seas coming back to Galveston. I know the front of the ship went up and down at least 10-15 feet. We went to the middle of the ship that had lots less motion just to keep our dinner down. We gave up an assigned cabin in the middle of the ship for this. Never again. Just my opinion. R. Texas |
