You're right about the Prelude's speeds - he's wondering whether you went
that fast, and while I've seen racers do about 110 on I-91 in
Connecticut, 140 sounds above any speed I've ever witnessed on any
highway, so I'm also skeptical.

I've done 145 mph (where my car's limiter kicks in), but I was only able
to sustain that speed for about 30 seconds.

Even so, it was fun, wasn't it? :-) KM

As I recall, "Where have all the Flowers Gone" was written and recorded by
Pete Seeger prior to it's being released by Peter, Paul and Mary. KM

You have pretty good recall, amigo. I didn't expect there to be too
many people left around these days who would even know who Pete Seeger
was. Just can't get away with anything in this group. sigh

Actually, the lyrics to "Blowing in the Wind" were more a propos to my
post, but I liked the title of "..Flowers.." better, even though it
was an anti-war song. Sometimes you just have to fudge a little.

LOL! There were a lot of anti-war songs that were my favorites. If they
were good music, I liked them. After I posted my remarks, I went online and
listened to Pete Seeger's rendition of "Where Have all the Flowers Gone?"
(and a few other versions) and decided that I like the Peter, Paul and Mary
version the best. I have all their albums, since the folk music of the 60s
is my second favorite form of music. Those who aren't aware of the folk
music of the 60s don't know what they're missing! ;-) KM

Name a state where that distinction is drawn.

LOL! If you don't want to believe it, then don't. I'm not your lackey
and suggest you do your own homework. Got Google? KM

You're the one making the assertion. You clearly have no proof.

This is the Usenet, I'm not interested in "proof".

OK then, you're wrong. In no state is there a distinction drawn. I
assert that.

You're right. When he posted about having been to Toronto twice, arriving
once in
winter when the temperature was several degrees colder than the record
cold, and
then in the summer on a day when the temperature was several degrees
warmer than
the record high. What an amazing coincidence that each trip was not only a
record
setter, but exceeded current records. Then when he boasts about his
highway speed
I am reminded of the credibility gap.

Then again, who knows if your assertions are true? Your M.O. has always
been to ignore the point and pounce on some sideline trivia in order to
derail the conversation into your desire to make personal attacks and get
away from the issues under discussion. KM

I pounced on sideline trivia??? LOL. You were the one who claimed to have landed
in Toronto on a day when it was so extremely cold that it exceeded the record
cold for the city, as confirmed by a site with record high and low temperatures.
Then the next time you arrived it was so hot that it it exceeded the city's
record high. What an incredible coincidence that on two visits to Toronto you
happened to have been there to see new record high and low temperatures set, but
not recorded. Perhaps if you object to personal attacks you might try to keep
your stories believable.

And what, pray tell, are "lives camears"?

i guess you might be from New-York and you voted for Bush.
When the Bush's are in power the price of gazolines hits record high.
It will cost a lot in fuel cost to drive to Louisiana.

Are you speaking to anyone in particular, or the whole world. And what
are "gazolines"?

umm.. have you driven from Los Angeles to Las Vegas? "Alone" is not
something that I've *ever* felt on that part of I-15.

Even YOU should be able to perceive that "wreckless", if such a word
existed, would signify "without a wreck". "Reckless", to the direct
contrary, signifies careless actions that COULD lead to a wreck, in the
worst case.

Thus, the two "words" are near-antonyms, rather than having nearly the
same meaning.\

Around here, the charge is Careless Driving.

Hm. There's a difference between reckless and careless; the
former connotes a willful disregard of the consequences.

I reckon that about covers it. BTW, "wreckless" has been around for
many years, dictionaries or no.
