But I've found good restaurants also in Tokyo where you can sit down
and
have a good meal at a low price. Wine is possibly more expensive in
Tokyo but otherwise you will find small restaurants comparing well
with
budget restaurants in other cities.

A lot does depend on what you want. For me a full on dinner with wine is
non negotiable, which makes Scandanavia expensive and if my second hand
info is accurate, Switzerland more expensive than London.

I heard in Denmark, McDonald's workers get paid over $20 an hour and
gets additional payments for pension.

Seem to be a normal salary around 20000 DKK/month , but a little below the
average in Denmark.
Do you think they don't deserve that or ?

Of course, Happy Meals are probably over $10?

Yes , and ?

When I left SE, I spent my remaining DKK in the BK at CPH. It was the best
value in the airport. However expensive it was, everything else was more
so.

Actually I lie, I spent my last final 1.5Kr on a Cookie made especially for
me.

The figures would surprise most Americans.

Also of note is that unemployment in 1.8%?

The point is that these kinds of lists refer to average prices- and
they're usually a pretty good indicator of the average costs. If Tokyo
was so cheap, I wonder why my Japanese students tell me it's so
expensive.

Perhaps your Tokyo students earn less than typical ex pat workers? Most
people I know who worked abroad often had their rent paid for them and
salary adjustments (upward rather than downward) to counter local cost
of living fluctuations.

Hi,

I've always liked the "scales" that used something like the cost of a
bottle of coke, cold... or a mcdonald's big mac.
