Default expensive cities

Moscow is the most expensive city in the world for tourists. Next come Tokyo
and London. The least expensive city is Asuncion in Paraguay.

Asuncion must be bloody cheap. I doubt I've been to the
least expensive, but $1 sure goes a long way in Siem Reap.

I don't know that London's cheaper than Zurich. Petrol's a lot cheaper
there than London don't forget.

No source nor a link ?
I think such comparisons are more or less useless
So what's compared ? 5-star deluxe or inexpensive accommodation.
For example I've been to Asuncion, no doubt it was inexpensive but I've
been to many less expensive cities. What about Quandahar where we paid
around 20cent for a room (was a luck we had our own sleeping bags )
although it was some years ago.
In the third world it's not unlikely that you've the choice between real
expensive 5 star hotels or rat-hole hotels being real inexpensive.
As for capitals I studied Pristina,Kosovo recently and found mostly
expensive hotels for UN-staff and aid-organizations and as an alternative
inexpensive private accommodation.
As for Stockholm, said to be expensive, I can see the real Up class Sergel
Plaza hotel offering a room at Euro 95 now in summer.

I don't think so- they are not perfect, but they try and average things
out.

Possibly why Stockholm is relatively far _down_ the list, below around a
dozen European capitals?

Many other things are cheaper in Geneva or Zurich. Hotels, transport
etc. Not _much_ cheaper in some cases, but enough.

I think such comparisons are more or less useless

I think the statement above is more or more useless.

So what's compared ? 5-star deluxe or inexpensive accommodation.

Ask the police.

For example I've been to Asuncion, no doubt it was inexpensive but I've
been to many less expensive cities. What about Quandahar where we paid

The city was not listed. I guess because camel **** dumplings are used as
money there.

around 20cent for a room (was a luck we had our own sleeping bags ) As
for Stockholm, said to be expensive, I can see the real Up class Sergel
Plaza hotel offering a room at Euro 95 now in summer.

This is quite irrelevant in such a comparison. Totally pointless.
