6 hours in Singapore is pleanty of time to get out of the airport, either
on one of the official (free!) tours, or just on your own. The fast
and very efficient MRT (aka the train) will take you from the airport
to a number of down-town areas in 15-30 mins (depending on where you go)

www.changi.airport.com.sg will have most of the details you need, or
search the web - there's no shortage of information on Changi Airport.

In addition to that there's movies and TV to watch at the airport, you can
also go for a swim there or take a shower and freshen up.

If I had six hours I'd probably take one of the free tours, as Scott
suggests.

As I recall, when you take the free tour you remain in customs "quarantine"
and no formalities or airport fees are incurred. If you leave by yourself,
I suspect you may incur a departure fee when you return.

The tour will kill a few hours. But as others have stated, there are enough
[shopping/eating/movie] activies at the airport to keep you busy for 6
hours. Possibly even some free internet terminals.

No departure fee in Singapore. Taxis are real cheap too. Enjoy the sights
and restaurants for 6 hours. But if you have to be stuck in an airport for
6 hours, this one must be one of the best airports for it to happen. They
have cinema, supermarkets, hotels (rooms by the hour) showers and many, many
duty-free shops.

You can have your baggage go straight to your next destination. No taxes or
fees to pay. No departure tax either. i have done it many times. Get the MRT
to the city, dinner with friends and return on the MRT. You can leave the
carry on with left luggage. Its quite cheap.
