Bahn tickets:what happens if you miss a connection?
Anyone used the online booking facility at the Deutsche Bahn web site?
It allows you to book tickets and print them off locally. A good idea. But what happens if you miss the train? For example, I am flying in to Cologne/Bonn airport from England, arrival time about 12:15. I have booked an ICE train to Nuremburg, departs from Koln-Messe station about 14:00. This should give me plenty of time normally. But what happens if my flight is delayed and I can't make the connection? Also, if I get through customs quickly, can I jump on an earlier ICE or Inter-City train? Bruce |

When I'm in Germany, I always travel by train, and I've never heard of a ticket that could only be used on a single train. Seat reservations are another matter, of course. They ARE train-specific. -- Yes. but there are many ways to get from Koeln airport to Nuremberg, using combinations of ICE, IC, EC trains. I am booking the most expensive option: ICE straight from Koeln Messe to Nuremberg. Presumably if I miss this I will be able to get to Nuremberg via one of the cheaper routes with no problems when I get my ticket inspected. Bruce |

The full price one you can use on another train, the spar one needs to be upgraded which costs (or did last year) more than the difference . tim |

They are still trying to get it right tim |
