You might check out this site:

http://www.texashighways.com/currentissue/index.php

Click on Events Calendar and do a search for events in South Texas Plains
Area (Click on Map of Texas), for San Antonio, December, 2003 (just fill in
the blanks where required), you should find lots of info on events at that
time, and exactly when they will occur.

You can do a Search Texas Highways on the same home page for San Antonio,
and get lots of articles, some of which you can directly access.

Have a Mexican meal at Mi Tierra. Here is a site describing it.

A boat trip on the River, starting right down town on the Riverwalk would be
good.

Follow the missions trail, see the Alamo, dine on the riverbank even if it's
expensive, and if you're not rich sleep at the Microtel you can spot it
easily when you drive into town coming from Houston
See the cathedral, the governor's house and the market.

Go to the Institute of Texan Cultures at Hemisfair Plaza. Be sure to visit
"the back 40" behind the Institute. Across the street from the Alamo is a
nice IMAX version of the battle. I also highly suggest seeing the other
missions in San Antonio as well. They are all unique and quite beautiful.

Other than the usual? (Alamo, Riverwalk, missions)

Be sure to visit a country-western clothing store. Our favorite is
Shepler's at 6201 Northwest Loop 410, San Antonio, TX 78238 (210)
681-8230. However there's also Cavender's and Boot City.

Cowboy's Dance Hall (Used to be Far West) is a great country-western
dance club to visit -- mechanical bull and all. Usually has a
combination of a dj and a live band. Not sure of the exact address -- I
know it's somewhere off highway 35.

Take a ride up to Rudy's BBQ ("the worst bbq in Texas") It isn't that
the food is necessarily better than at other bbq's (although I challenge
anyone to make better creamed corn, but it's fun to see the mural
showing the great floods, along with the marks to show where the flood
waters rose to a couple of summers ago.

Have a great time!

The usual San Antonio stuff
- the Alamo
- Riverwalk
- the missions
- SeaWorld is always great (doubt if there open this late in the year
though?)
- if you're into sports, the stadium (SA Spurs)

For breakfast checkout "Twin Sisters" and
for lunch and dinner go to "Liberty Bar and
Grill", also "Henry's Puffy Taco".

For great mexican food, you should NOT MISS the famous mexican restaurant,
Mia Tierra in downtown San Antonio. It is open 24-7-365. The menu is
diverse and awesome! Great ambiance too! A real San Antonio treat! And
without a doubt, the best mexican bakery around.

here is their info:

218 Produce Row
(210) 225-1262
