Default Cell phone onboard Carnival Destiny

Has anyone who has cruised Carnival Destiny in the last few weeks/months
used any kind of cell phone while onboard while in port in Barbados?? Do
you know if Carnival provides any service other than the local service
provided while there??

thanks

Unless you have an "international" cell phone, one that is dual band or
tri-band and international service from your cell provider you won't be
able to use your cell phone outside the US. Cell phones in other
countries run on a different frequency and standard than US GSM phones.
That's why you need an "international" or "world" phone.

That's not true. Not at all.

There are many islands in the Caribbean where you may get a signal. But be
aware of horrendous charges. You can be charged more than $1.00 per minute.
Call your cell provider and ask they their charges at the various islands
you visit.

You may find it much cheaper getting a phone card and using a phone on the
island.

But many islands have cell companies that have reciprocal agreements with US
providers. You likely may need a phone that has analog capability though.
