Default Urgent: Oct. trip, tahiti excursions on Princess, prebook orwait?

We just got off the windstar in Tahiti. I didn't see much in the way of
people offering excursions on the dock. In fact, they seemed to have
limited capacity on the ship offered excursions and this is a small
ship. I think the larger ships must pose a real problem, I'd recommend
booking ahead of time if they have a reasonable cancellation policy.

for Princess to be selling pre-cruise excursions.

Well, the companies that run the shore excursions want some idea of how
many people will be coming.

Back in the old days, where one had to get on board first, shore
excursions were far more limited.

I went on the Ren ship (now princess ship)3 years ago and did not
prebook anything. In fact if you did not book on the ship, there was
a good chance you could just walk off the ship in a given port and
there would be vendors selling the SAME excursion for less, and you
would board next to your fellow passengers!

It can happen. Then again, you can't count on it.

Less likely in Tahiti though.
