Looking for the BEST way to earn miles

Hi there -

I am planning an around-the-world vacation and am determined to offset
as much of the travelling costs as possible through the use of FF
miles. My airline of choice is American.

I have checked they're site and various programs (I already use an FF
credit card for most purchases and bills, and I am a member of they're
iDine program which offers a 10 miles per $ ratio at participating
restaurants) but am looking for other ways to boost my hoard.

Other things I have done are changing my long distance carrier
multiple times in the span of a few months and signing up for services
only to have them cancelled after a short period.

SO, basically I am looking for fresh ideas from anyone else out there
who is as addicted as I am to free travel.

Save your time. If you want to go around the world for cheap, forget about
miles, forget about airlines of choice, and find a good discounter who can
put together a low-cost itinerary for you.

Unless your opportunity cost for time spent on these activities is zero,
you'll be much better off this way.
