Hi,
We are an elderly but reasonably fit couple wanting to spend some 2 weeks in
USA. It will be our first visit and I wondered if some kind person(s) could
point me towards a web site that might give me some info. We would like to
see things that we cannot in the UK specifically or Europe in general i.e
Space exploration Museums, etc
We might want to hire a carif our UK drivers licence would cover us. We
would hope to keep out of hurricane areas, and criminally unsafe areas.
Tom,
From Shropshire UK

Tom,

I have a website specifically for UK travellers to the USA that may be
helpful to you
http://www.uk-2-usa.com

We also have a yahoo group for UK holiday makers going to the USA on
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/uk2usa/
where you can post more questions.

I've used Auto Europe with success but Holiday Autos appears cheaper.
Have you actually used them and what type of companies do they use?

I've used them and the car was from Alamo

Ah well, all for naught. I was interested in renting in Europe and they
will not accept rentals from Americans or Canadians. It took a while to
find that but it is there.

Maybe the pickpocket thing was a bit too low on the scale. Let's go
with violent crimes. Forget about if the criminal used a gun, knife,
bomb, etc. (you're still just as dead or injured) I just haven't seen
any stats which reflect this. People say "Check the stats" but is
anyone getting complete information? I'm not defending or "downing"
any City or Country. I just like my information to be complete &
reliable. I'd really like to see a good source.

The problem seems to be that different countries have different reporting
standards, and no particular incentive to make them uniform. About the only
one where they can come close to agreeing is homicide, because it's less
ambiguous than all the flavors of assault and robbery.
