Default Berlin Wall video - on DVD ?

Can any Berliners / visitors there tell me ...
Can I get this video on DVD ?

" Ode to Joy & Freedom: Fall of the Berlin Wall "

I bought a VHS tape at Checkpoint Charlie years ago, but would like it on
DVD and cannot find any DVD info online. ( I can find the VHS but no DVD )
If you know of a local Berlin spot to purchase, I'd ask you to post the
info and I will contact them directly.

Thanks very much.

Can you not just hook up your VHS player to a DVD recorder and copy it over
yourself?

I saw a Brookestone's ad for such a converter but it's about $200. You
might be able to find someone to do it for a fee.

Amazon appears to have two versions.
One in German:
http://www.amazon.de/Ode-die-Freihei.../dp/B00022ADHG

and one which carries four flags:
http://www.amazon.de/gp/offer-listin...g=cin_store-21
&linkCode=sb1&camp=2382&creative=8454

Not sure if this is of any help. But you may have a look or call them.

Stupid American here - I should have mentioned - I'd like it in English and
NTSC format. The DVD versions I see online are only PAL. And the PAL
versions are in German. I know - "What do you expect ?" so I should have
mentioned earlier :

I THOUGHT I could get it from Canada he ( I saw CDN currency and
thought - " Canadian ")
http://66.102.1.132/translate_c?hl=e...RB4tLbT0fWbKGg

but when I clicked on TAB, it's in Germany also.

I was just very surprised that each time I've been to Berlin I check at
Checkpoint Charlie and they only ever have VHS. Maybe because it is more
'universal', but it is also gettting to be a very old format.

Thanks for any pointers.
Meanwhile, I'll try to track down the company that produced it.

Thank you. With your info, I just sent an email question to rbb shop if
offered for NTSC format.

As Erik has remarked there are two versions, one German only:

http://www.amazon.de/Ode-die-Freihei.../dp/B00022ADHG

or

http://www.rbb-online-shop.de/artikel_1105.ahtml
(This one is cheaper than with amazon, it's from the online shop of the
television station who originally made the film.)

and one multilingual:

http://www.amazon.de/Ode-die-Freihei.../dp/B00004RY9E

The latter is out of print and has to be bought with amazon resellers.
Some of them offer it used only.

There are slight differences between the two versions. They use
basically the same footage, but besides the choice of languages the
edit sequences and commentaries differ slightly. I _think_ that the
multilingual DVD is identical with the English language VHS tape you
could buy years ago.

Be warned that both DVDs are region 2 (Europe) and PAL, so they won't
play on regular US DVD players. If you are in North America you'll need
a multi-standard multi-region player. The VHS version came in PAL or
NTSC at the time, but the DVD doesn't.

Why on earth would you want it in English when the actual historic
performance was in German? It seemed so appropriate that the original
lyric "Freude" (Joy) could so easily be adapted to "Friede" (Freedom).
I've no idea what the English lyrics may have been, but certainly not
such a fortuitous juxtaposition.
