What a good idea, to me at least, it means the person in front of me will
not be able to put thier seat back in my face!

And no more broken laptop display panels when the thoughtless
passenger in front decides to fully recline his seat as far as it will
go without any consideration for what the guy behind him has on his
tray.

NO - minimum seat measurements should be sufficient to allow 99.5% of

adults
to sit comfortably when the seat in front is fully reclined.

But whilst they are not please spare a thought for me sat behind you.

lack of seat pockets and distribution of menus.

Perhaps menus should have a velcro back to allow them to be affixed to the
seatback instead of dropped on floor.

Non-reclining seats should be obligatory on all short trips and on long

ones
the seats should only be able to recline AFTER meals are served.

That would be nice, but ask those 99.5% of passengers if they'd be
prepared to pay x% more for their fare if they got an x% increase in
seat pitch, and I think they would probably prefer to stick with the
lower fare.

You could have that if people were prepared to pay the higher fares
which would result from the reduction in seating capacity. I think the
airlines know that far more people would go for low fares than would
go for comfort.

I was, but there are limits :-)

I'm just back from a longish trip which included some short haul Y
class flights that took me back to the good old days in Europe,
plenty of leg room, menus, large meal trays with several dishes,
unlimited free drinks, all of which generated happy smiling
passengers, which in turn led to contented friendly cabin crews. I
shall recount a few experiences here shortly.

Utopia ?

Ok, lets start with a little quiz.
The airline in question operates just 3 jet aircraft, 2 wide bodies
and a narrow body, all of European manufacture.
It's route network consists of nonstop flights to 9 destinations, with
one additional link using turboprops from one of those on to a 10th.
All of this airline's flights are as good as entirely over water.
3 well known international airlines, one Oneworld, One Star Alliance,
One Skyteam member all codeshare on some of this airline's flights.
Anyone able to name that airline?

Absolutely not. Most of their aircraft are not of European
manufacture, and a decent proportion of Lauda flights (now part of
Austrian) are over land.

I think that the non-reclining seats are a great idea. I am sick and
tired of idiots who think they are the only ones on the plane and
throw back their seat so that it jams my knees. The no backseat
pocket is a bad idea.

It was a real pain in the neck ! Especially when trying to have a nap.

Also they handed out those plastic coated 'menus', and, with no seat back
pocket people put them on the floor and then put their shoes on them, which
no doubt had previously trodden in dog-poo at some time. I wonder if they
get disinfected after every leg ?

The safety announcement even said to read the safety leaflet in the seat
back pocket in front of you !

Well that was enough for me - that was my last voluntary Ryanair flight.

Bye Bye MOL.
