Default Geographical Nicknames

Hi -

I am amused by geographical nicknames - Lost Wages for Las Vegas,
Taxachusettes for Massachusettes.

Can anyone come up with any more?

Thanks!

Minneapolis -- Minnie No Place

There's a town in Iowa called Estherville. Neighbors
call it EverStill.

Well, a lot of folks refer to Atlanta as Hotlanta. They use it a lot to sell
the nightlife, etc., but in reality, it refers to our often stifling summers
:-)

New Yuck City

ArmPittsburgh, the Armpit of Pennsylvania

Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Shove (refers to driving habits)

Outside of that, all the dull conventional ones- The Big Apple, The
Windy City, Motortown or Motown (Detroit), the Mile High City, Sin City
(also Las Vegas)

Can't think of any outside the US- or are they too dependent on language
to translate?

There's Baja Oklahoma for Texas.

Know why Oklahoma doesn't slide down into Texas?

Because Kansas sucks
