Default Thoughts on the Mercury

My bride and I are celebrating our 25th Wedding anniversary. We are
thinking about Celebrity out of Charleston 10 nights western Caribbean.
I am not familiar with the ship and have been reading some reviews, but
also wanted to get opinions here.

What say you all? How is the ship these days? Is a balcony worthwhile on
this ship?

Just arrived off the Mercury on the Alaska run. She is older, about 11
years but not in bad shape. They have finally fixed the shaking and
shimming in the stern. It used to be like a cement mixer in the early
days. Clean large cabins, very few announcements other than BINGO!!! and
sales. There seemed to be some problems with the aft toilets in Cabins on
deck 4. Not great for smokers if it is raining. Food has really improved
over the past 10 years. Smaller portions, but pretty tasty. Now have
Indian food and stir fry stations in the Buffet (Palm Cafe) No extra charge
restaurants (well you can get service/table cloths in the Buffet at night)
for $2. Not much in the way of snacks after 9, just pizza pasta til 10:30.
After that it is only coffee tea and juices.
