Default Two airline legs with a rental care in between: Best way to book?

I'm planning a trip for four:

CID--LAX by air
LA-- San Francisco-- Sequoia National Park-- Fresno by rental car
FAT-- CID by air

Is there any better (i.e., cheaper) way to book this than just two one-
way air trips and a car rental?

TIA

This routing is what is called an open jaw and is priced at 1/2 of
cost of first of a round trip for the first tow cities and 1/2 or cost
of a round trip for the second cities. That is most generally cheaper
than 2 one-way tickets, unless you are flying on two different low
cast carriers.

Hope this helps
Michael

The airline isn't going to care about your car rental.
You can book CID to LAZ, FAT to CLI as either two one ways or as an open
jaw, which, as someone stated, should let you pay 1/2 of the roundtrip
proce for each half of the trip.

Thanks to both of you.

I missed the "multi city" option on Orbitz and Expedia, or I might
have figured this out. OK, off to search fares.

Thanks.

Have you considered booking directly at the site of the airline?
Don't Expedia and Expedia charge a fee for tickets?

Yes, I now realize this. He also was incorrect about flights to China a
while back.

What's his reason for posting all this incorrect information? Is there
some agenda, or is he really just clueless, i.e. another Rod Speed.

Good question. I think either he is kid playing with is parent's computer
when they are not looking or has a severe developmental mental problem. In
either case, he apparently gets his thrills by seeing his name on the
newsgroup.

People have tried to point out his mistakes, but he isn't capable of
learning. For example, when he first started posting erroneous information
about aircraft range, he would argue with them. In one case, he claimed
that a 747 couldn't go non-stop from New York to Seoul. When he was told
that Korean Airlines actually flew such a flight, he argued that the
information was wrong because Ultimate Traffic, an add-on to Microsoft
Flight Simulator, didn't show the flight. He's also makes the ridiculous
claim that a 747 can't take off on a 10,500' runway as it is to short even
after its beein pointed out to him that if that were true, no one could be
flying a 747 as the Boeing factory which does the final assembly on the 747
is located at Paine Field in the state of Washington and the longest runway
there is less than 10,000'.

The only reason I bother to cut him down is that there are people who read
this news group who genuinely do not know and would believe his nonsense
until they are shown how he doesn't know **** from shinola when it comes to
just about everything in real life.

The other idiots who post here from time to time and also don't know ****
from shinola are Charles Newman, aka the Chucky Monster, and Anthony
Atkielski, aka MXSmanic. The three of them all seem to think that their
main goal in life is to subtract from the sum total of human knowledge and
try desperately to achieve that goal.

It often makes it easier, but it's certainly not a requirement in most
places.

For example, there is one figure skating event coming up in Everett,
Washington,
in the fall, where you HAVE to have a car to get around. There is NO
public transport to Everett from Sea-Tac airport, so a rental car will be a
MUST for me, when I go to cover Skate America in Everett, Washington,
in October. There is NO OTHER WAY to get to Everett from Sea-Tac
airport

I have to go to that event as well. I'm probably not going to rent a
car, as I'll be too busy to go anywhere else. Fortunately, there is good
public transit from Sea-Tac to Everett.

Sound Transit runs buses to Everett, in fact you can get right to the
Everett Events Center by Sound Transit, by bus. You take route 194 to
downtown Seattle, then route 510 to Everett. It's very cheap too, only
$2.50. Additionally, Skate America will have a special transit pass
available for Sound Transit. However there are hotels within walking
distance of the Events Center, so once you're there you really don't
need a bus.

Nope. Everett has a municipal public-transit system. You're an idiot.

Wrong. You're an idiot. There are at least a couple of different ways
to get to Everett from SEA without renting a car.

No, there are several other ways. As usual, you are a delusional
mouth-breathing self-molesting idiot.

You spend a lot of time spreading lies and falsehoods here. Why do you
do this?

Er, I think you meant "so once you're there you really don't need a
*car*."

Chilly8 is the nym of a delusional idiot who doesn't know **** from
shinola, and repeatedly proves it. Either ignore its always-wrong
and utterly useless "advice," or join in the fun and continue to prove
to the moron just how wrong he gets *everything.*
