weekend roadtrip--Mass to Tennesee

We are going to be going to a music festival in tenesee. It is about
60 miles sotheast of nashville. According to mapquest, it is a 16 hour
drive. We are going to be leaving on thursday nite, going straight
through until we are at least in the NC/TN border area in the great
smoky mountains area, not necesarily the national park, but somewhere
around there.

I am looking for suggestions on nice state parks with camping/shower
facilities where we could get a little rest, a shower, and get the car
reorginized for 5 or 6 hours of traffic on the way into the show. We
are going to get a hotel on sunday nite and rest up before driving
home.

We would probably also be interested in a round of golf if anyone knows
of a decent cheap public course not to far off our path. Of course any
must try resturaunts would be good to know about. I have been down
south, but never to the center, just the deep south, so I guess any
suggestions on anything are welcome!!

If you're heading down I-81 you might try Warriors Path State Park near
Kingsport, TN. (Google it) It's not really in the mountains. I *hear*
that a good place to eat in nearby Johnson City, TN is Johnny Carino's,
an Italian eatery.
