Default Valentines day in Toronto

Hello everyone,
My girlfriend and I have decided to spend Valentines Day in Toronto.
We know that this visit will include a trip to the ROM, and as we are
unfamilliar with the city we were wondering if anyone could suggest
other activities which are close by to the museum.
For instance, malls, nice restaurants, etc.

We have been using "Torontolife.com" to try and decide on a
restaurant, so my next question is:

On Torontolife.com,
which of the "Neighborhoods" would the ROM fall under: 905, Annex,
Beaches, Bloor West Village, Cabbagetown, Danforth, Downtown, Downtown
East, Downtown West, Etobicoke, Etobickoke North, Forest Hill, Gerard
East, Kensington, Kingsway, Leaside, Little Italy, Midtown, Midtown
West, Mimico, North York, out-of-town, Queen East, Queen West,
Riverdale, Scarborough north, Scarborough South, Spadina, Theatre
District, Uptown, Uptown East, Or Yorkville.

Thanks very much, all help is appreciated.

I would think either uptown or Yorkville. The ROM is at the corner of
University and Bloor. Yorkville runs just north of Bloor from University
Ave. to Yonge St. It is at the junction of the subway lines, so you will
be able to get around quite easily form there with public transit. There
are a lot of nice stores along Bloor street. There are lots of nice
restaurants in tht area. If you like Greek food, take the subway east to
the Danforth and check out some of the restaurants there. If you want a
nice dinner with a more formal air, take the subway west to the Old Mill.

"Uptown" may mean Yonge/Eglinton, but then I don't know where "Midtown"
would be.

The ROM is 2 minutes from Yorkville, even if you are crawling, so I would
say that that would be the safest.

Shopping in Yorkville is boutique oriented, and along Blor Street right by
it it is very high end.

The Eaton Centre (massive shopping complex) is only 10 minutes from
Yorkville by subway and you can go east (Danforth) or west (Bloor West
Village)on the Bloor Street subway line to find ethnic neighbourhoods,
restautants, and shopping.

Staying downtown affords you the option of stying insude on a potentially
cold day, but going east or west on Bloor Street let's you see some
authentic Toronto neighbourhoods.

Have fun!

Many activities close by. Good weather you can stroll UToronto
campus, south of ROM. Bad weather, go underground at
50 Bloor West between Avenue and Yonge. (Bay St is
in between)

All sorts of shopping and cafes there.

Outdoors, Cumberland and Yorkville Ave shopping, two streets north
of Bloor on Avenue Rd.

Hazelton Lanes Mall is right there.

All sorts of restaurants along Bloor, Cumberland, Yorkville
with menus posted. Take your pick.

As it's Saturday you can get $5- all day parking in the
OISE underground lot on Prince Arthur one street north
of Bloor but you have to put a credit card in the machine.

Closest area is the Annex. Unless TO Life defines Bloor between
Avenue and Yonge as Midtown.
