Buenos Aires
To the poster of a question about neighborhoods to avoid: I tried sending a
separate e-mail with information on other subjects, but the mail system returned it to me. Without taking up too much space or boring other readers here, two hotels I would recommend, having stayed at each or them three or four times, are the Crillon Hotel, on the Plaza San Martín, and the Ulises Recoleta Suites, in the Recoleta neighborhood. Their Web sites are www.hotelcrillon.com.ar and www.ulisesrecoleta.com.ar respectively. I'd say it's almost impossible to get a bad meal in Argentina, but some restaurants in Buenos Aires that I particularly liked were La Caballeriza, for meat, and Broccolino for a wide variety of pastas and other Italian fare. I ate at La Caballeriza in Puerto Madero, an area where warehouses have been redeveloped into restaurants, shops, and condominiums, but they also had a location in Recoleta. Broccolino is on Esmeralda, just a couple of blocks from the Plaza San Martín. Another good location for Italian cuisine was Il Gran Caruso, in the Buenos Aires Design Centre, in Recoleta. Contact me by e-mail if you have any other questions that I may be able to answer. John Cisarik Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. |
