Saba and Statia (Sint Eustatius)

What's the best way to travel on these small islands? Is renting a bike,
scooter or car possible? Or is (hitch) hiking or a taxi the best way?

There only 1 road on Saba. Taxi is probably only transportation? That's
what we used You can travel entire island in an hour.

On Saba the best way is to take a taxi at the airport. If it's possible tak
Taxi 3 with Billy as driver (a yellow minibus). He takes you around the
island for 50 US$ all day. The rest on Saba you hav to hike, because there
are less roads over there.

On Statia I think the best way to get around is also by car, but there are
less car rentals on the island. I don't know another solution. I had my own
car the weeks I was on Statia. Bikes will be a solution, most people walk
around the island and there arený musc tourists on the Goat island.

Each island is different:

Statia: Rent a bicycle. Hitch hike. Batting rate when hitching is 100%.
That is 100% of the people that pass stop to offer you a ride. And 100%
drop you off at your destination. But then nothing is more than a few
blocks away. Most of the island is flat, and a bicycle is excellent for
getting around. I rented one from Dive Statia. See:

Saba: No bicycles here. Too steep. You walk every place here. And it is
possible to hitch to and from the airport. Just few people go that way. But
if you are carrying your bags, you can walk down to the airport. So on this
island you could take a taxi once, just to be sure you get up the hill.

On Saba you can take a taxi or hitchhike, or walk. It's easy to get a
ride, the only problem is it may take a while for a car to go by. If
you're staying on the island, the people at your 'hotel' can arrange
rides for you. Or for dinner, the restaurant will often be able to send
someone to pick you up. When we were there, we showed up with our
bags, and there were a couple people there waiting to provide
transport. Call them taxis if you want. Our driver gave us her home
phone number and said if we ever need a ride somewhere during our stay,
give her a call. Generally we walked everywhere though. It's good
exercise. I don't recall seeing any bicycles. We were there ten days,
don't scuba, and didn't feel the need for having a car available.
