Default Treetops Adventure at Capilano Suspension Bridge!

Hi Everyone,

I received this press release from the Capilano Suspension Bridge and
thought it would be of interest. This will be on my "must do" list on
my next cruise in or out of Vancover. If you have missed any of my
news' postings, they are available on my web site.

Best regards,
Ray

Visitors resoundingly endorse Treetops Adventure at Capilano
Suspension Bridge

First-of-its-kind attraction welcomes more than 2,500 guests on
opening day

VANCOUVER, May 10
More than 2,500 guests experienced a thriving West Coast rainforest in
a way like no other on Saturday, when Capilano Suspension Bridge
invited annual pass holders, tour groups, regular visitors and members
of the media to experience Treetops Adventure. The much- anticipated
launch of Treetops Adventure, a mid-storey forest walkway connecting
magnificent Douglas fir trees via a series of elevated suspension
bridges, kicked off Capilano Suspension Bridge's lively summer season
and further enhanced its reputation as a premier tourist destination.
"The initial response to Treetops Adventure has been extraordinary! We
are thrilled to offer our guests this original West Coast forest
experience," said Nancy Stibbard, owner and general manager of
Capilano Suspension Bridge.

To reach Treetops Adventure, visitors first had to cross the 450-foot
long suspended footbridge that remains the heart of this tourist
destination. Upon reaching the west side of magnificent Capilano
River, guests followed a series of elevated boardwalks to the
handcrafted, two-storey Treehouse marking the beginning of Treetops
Adventure. The walk offered visitors stunning vistas of the canyon,
the forest's indigenous flora and fauna and the stately, 350 year-old
Douglas fir trees featured in the attraction - often from as high as
100 feet above the forest floor.

After marveling at Treetops' unique engineering and environmental
features, visitors enjoyed naturalist-guided walks, delicious snacks
and a browse in the well-stocked Trading Post gift shop to pick up a
souvenir of their day at the Bridge. Guests were also invited to enjoy
a taste of First Nations cultural experience with traditional song and
dance performances and a visit to the Big House Carving Center, where
two master craftsmen were on hand to share their art, customs and
culture with guests.

"Many thanks to our guests for contributing to the great success of
Treetops Adventure grand opening," said Nancy Stibbard. "We look
forward to sharing this attraction with thousands of visitors this
summer and continuing our ongoing contribution to B.C. tourism."

The addition of Treetops Adventure reinforces the Capilano Suspension
Bridge's reputation as an innovative and visionary tourism leader - a
reputation gained largely under the direction of present owner and
general manager, Nancy Stibbard. Under Stibbard's leadership, the
scope of the operation has grown tremendously over the last 20 years.

Capilano Suspension Bridge's financial success has earned the
admiration of the business community in British Columbia. Nancy
Stibbard and Capilano Suspension Bridge have won many awards including
Ernst and Youngs' 1996 Entrepreneur of the Year Award for
Hospitality/Tourism in Pacific Canada and British Columbia's Best
Outdoor Attraction in 1999 and 2000. Capilano Suspension Bridge's most
recent honour, the inaugural Business of the Year, single unit, at the
2003 Tourism Industry Association's National Tourism Excellence
Awards, illustrates the high regard in which Capilano Suspension
Bridge is held throughout the business and tourism communities.

Nancy Stibbard and her team look forward to sharing Treetops Adventure
with the hundreds of thousands of guests that enjoy the Park each
year. Despite recent challenges faced by B.C. tourism, Nancy Stibbard
and her team steadfastly believe in the future of the industry and
anticipate continued investment, development and excitement as
Vancouver prepares to host the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
