£99 flights to Kuala Lumpur go on sale today
FROM NEWS SOURCE:
Booking opens at midday today for the five times weekly direct flights with AirAsiaX which begin in March 2009 between Stansted and Kuala Lumpur International Airport's Low Cost Carrier Terminal. At £99 each way, the introductory offer hugely undercuts existing airfares between London to Malaysia which typically cost between £500- £600. I've spent 20 minutes or so this morning playing around with dates on their site and the cheapest return flight I've managed to find cost £328 (inc. taxes). More typically, expect to pay £413 return (if you book well in advance). Then there's an additional £20 for checking in a 20kg case, plus a further £14 for in-flight meals. So the grand total comes to £447 - which is still a pretty good price for 13,116 miles of air travel these days. AirAsia is a very serious player in the LCC market and with the price of oil now at ca. $50 a barrel, this route is going to prove highly popular for some time to come. Well done AirAsia! Gerry |

Standstead is way out of everything. A barn serves as an air terminal at KLIA. Not worth the fuss. But perhaps for those living close to either of the two airports. |
