Shopping and bars. People like Aruba because it is clean and seems
safe. And for the beaches and water sports. I don't like the beaches
there because there are too many noisy water sports like wave runners,
parasailing and the like. Also it is hard to find places that rent
chairs and umbrellas as most resorts reserve those for their guests. I
liked the beach we went to on the tour better than any others I have
been to on Aruba, been to Aruba about four times on cruises, because it
had waves and was not crowded. They would have taken us to a different
beach but some said they wanted snorkeling. It was actually to wavy and
the water too turbulent to snorkel there. It was fine for a short time
that we had on the tour. The tour is very good if you have never been
to Aruba. It gives you a very good overview. I went because the group
was doing it and because as I said I don't care much for the beaches
there and I don't shop. In other circumstances I would get a day pass
to the Renaissance if they still offer them. Or do the Jolly Pirates
boat.

The problem is that the system doesn't work in a situation like ours.

The people in our group who had to eat in the other dining room booked in
July. That's rather early IMO. It's not like they booked last minute.

To me, to book 5-6 months before a sailing and not be able to sit with your
group is a problem.

They simply don't have enough dining room locations allocated to
traditional, if traditional fills up THAT far before sailing.

So you think that people should have been moved to suit your group? If
you had been booked well in advance and had your dining time confirmed
how would you feel if you were forced to move to Personal Choice
because a large group had booked after you? I think that it's
unreasonable to ask someone with a confirmed time to move simply to
accomodate a group that wanted to be together.

Wow, it's hard to believe that so much has changed in three short
months since the SGC. We had wonderful food and great service and
didn't find any surly crew. I'm curious as to why a large group would
have chosed Personal Choice dining, I think you might have been better
to chose a traditional seating. It's too bad you didn't have Sergio
in
the DaVinci dining room, he would have taken better care of you than
your Head Waiter.

Most of the group did have Traditional dining including Tom and myself.
Some of the group did not. The reason is that some booked later.

Yes they booked later... but that was mid summer. Just not as early as
we
did last XMAS.

To not be able to accoomodate them with is is simply not acceptible IMO.
Not when they have 6 months notice.

--Tom

Since
there is only one traditional dining room and two for Anytime dining
the later bookers ended up on Anytime. Since more passengers request
traditional than anytime the late bookers could not be moved as the
traditional was full from those who had booked it early. The issue with
Anytime as I see it is that they should probably do either all
Traditional or all Anytime but since Traditional is more popular they
keep it, but Anytime requires more dining room space to work.

Most people really like Aruba. I am one who thinks it is okay, but I
prefer Bermuda, ST. Thomas, ST. Maartin, Bonaire, and Cozumel.

Casinos. Diamonds Intnl, Little Switzerland,.etc.....

Now I know where Erm and Jean will be going, the casinos.LOL I think
casinos might be a good option for us also, I really don't want to go
to Diamonds Intnl or Little Switerland, very dangerous stores.

I have two of the Patters from our august cruise and I just looked

having this info in the daily paper.

They put the dining venue schedule on a small card but I think most
people overlook that card.

I agree... quite the crime rate in those kinds of stores. Very easy to lose
your money. VBG

I don't remember seeing that, but that doesn't mean I didn't see it
while on the ship. Was it put in the big book in the cabins?

Last time we were there, there was a huge flea markt/vegetable market at
the port. Some of the best mangos ever!

This might be a good option for part of the day. I just looked and we
are there from 12 noon to 11 PM. We will have to talk soon about the
different ports we will be in on the MGC2007.

I hope Bill is still improving and that you are resting!!
