Default Where to find people to travel with is Sydney

Hi!
I am going to OZ for 3 weeks in early april. Mainly to visit relatives.
But I also want to do some traveling. Maybe Tasmania or Melbourne since
I have been to the really touristy places before. But since I am going
to stay with relatives and have a lot of dinners and stuff with them it
will be harder than usual to find people to travel with. Does andyone
have any idea where to find people? Other than the usual places like
hostels and stuff. I would feel a little stupid hanging out there even
if I am not staying in the place.
Oh and also any tips on Tasmania or Melbourne? Stuff i shouldn't miss
in 4 days?

Cheers

David
