Often cruise air is more costly. Cruise line are usually leaves the day
of the cruise. If the weather is too bad to fly you still won't make the
cruise on time. The cruise line may fly you to the next port but you
still miss part of the cruise.

Use a travel agent. Have the agent book your air for the day before the
cruise, with a hotel. That way you have some wiggle room. An agent can
also check for price reductions. If you go with the Cruise Line, you
have to check for those yourself and it's harder to get one if you do it
yourself. Through an agent you may get some other perks like on board
ship credit. On one cruise I took, the agent had a fresh bowl of fruit
waiting in our cabin and two bottles of champagne.

You can book cruise air for the day before. Recently many cruise lines
have improved their air program. It is worth checking the cruise lines
air fare and checking on doing your own air and comparing.

I agree with your second paragraph about using a travel agent.

if any of you would have read the entire thread I said I Do not need

Threads sometimes drift. It was obvious I was replying to what Brian K.
posted. He may have included some information that did not apply to you
specifically but so what?

What does any of this have to do with your earlier comment

However, if you want a guarantee that you will get on the ship before it

sails you need to book it all including air and cruise through the

cruise line.

You made it seem like you needed to book directly with the cruise line

and not use a travel agent, as if this will make any difference in

making your ship. Unless that isn't what you meant and you just weren't

clear, that is not at all true.

And I'm not sure what you're using to reply to messages here, but it's

broken. You're not adding a "quote" character in front of quoted

material and if someone didn't read carefully, they would think that you

posted stuff that others wrote.

Researching travel online has become a vast and confusing place filled with conflicting options and inaccurate prices. You could spend hours on the computer and phone researching and making reservations and still be left feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. The hassle caused by trying to navigate the Internet can be eliminated simply by choosing to use a travel agent to help you book your trip.
Many people are unaware that you don’t have to pay extra to use a travel agent. In fact, I can actually save you money! Because I am specifically trained to work with suppliers to find the best possible deal, I can utilize my expert guidance to make sure you receive the best value and get the most for your money. I focus on both Family and Romance travel, and I am qualified to research and book all types of travel from cruises, corporate, all-inclusive and international travel. I would love to start helping you save time and money when you travel, and I look forward to working with you on all of your travel needs.

I just booked a cruise today for 2 people, $949 each, got $450 in
on-board credit. I used a travel agent. How much did YOU get for your
cruise? I'm guessing NOTHING?

I'm not saying that this other guy has anything useful to offer, but you
of all people should not present yourself as an expert on ANYTHING to do
with cruising.

actually this one is longe,r 2 ports of call. can I ask what does on
board credit mean exactly?

so if it is what I think it is then you will get 450 dollars worth of
alcohol but you are still paying 500 dollars each for your cruise I am
paying 350 and I dont drink alcohol anyway. So I really dont need any
onboard credit.

and I did n oit complain. I guess maybe I will see if a longer cruise
is better
