Majesty Of The Seas Experiences Minor Fire
Thursday February 5, 8:32 am ET

MIAMI, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Royal Caribbean International's
Majesty of the Seas experienced a brief 21-minute galley fire early this
morning. The fire caused minor damage and no guests or crew members were
harmed in any way and the ship is sailing safely.
The fire, caused by a deep fat fryer, began at 4:47 a.m. in the ship's
Windjammer Cafe on the tenth deck, aft. Crew members fully extinguished the
fire by 5:08 a.m. As a precaution, the ship's Master asked guests to move to
their muster stations for 24 minutes. The fire and its related smoke caused
minor damage to the Windjammer's galley area. The ship will continue its
current sailing, however, the cafe, which is used for casual dining, will be
closed and service will be moved to other dining areas.

Majesty of the Seas is carrying 2,376 guests and 829 crewmembers on a
four-night Caribbean cruise. It departed Miami on Monday, February 2, and
has visited Nassau, Bahamas, Royal Caribbean's private island of Coco Cay,
Bahamas, and today is calling in Key West, before ending its cruise in Miami
tomorrow.

One of the thrills of cruising that I would never look forward to is the
fire alarm going off at 5AM when you have to know that it is NOT a drill.

I agree with you Dick! Hopefully they announced it was precautionary.

Can't imagine trying to feed all those people with the Windjammer Buffet
closed.
