We thought this might be a problem for us on our last voyage, but it turned out that we had a wonderful view out to sea from "our table" outside Henry's Pub--and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, with excellent bar service even though we were sitting just outside the bar. What hour are we in? The issue of smoking in your cabin is changing
almost hourly. I've heard some lines are charging extra to your account (extra cleaning charge) if smoke is smelled in your cabin. Still ok to smoke on the Balcony of most main stream lines. But, I suggest you check with the line your interested in sailing to have the most current up to date information. |

After so many decades of the occasional cigarette, it would be uncomfortable for me to quit - yet I would like to enjoy a cruise from time to time. And I think smoking is far less of a social problem than some of the behaviors exhibited in this community - including the pathology that generates such responses as "There are none - Stay home." Syl You're absolutely right. It's not a social problem. It's a health problem. The smoke is full of cancer causing compounds (duh). The states that are putting in laws restricting smoking in public places are not worried about the smokers' health, they are worried about the effect of second hand smoke on the people around them. Like bar tenders, waitresses, casino workers. Plus people with asthma and allergies are much more severely impacted by the smoke. Plus... on ships there are Two other problems. One is safety - related to the potential for Fire. The Second is the amount of work and cost to clean up cabins after smokers. And those are Money issues... --Tom |

Good news for anyone that still smokes, they are thinking about raising
the tax on smokes,to pay for some sort of health coverage for children, and low income families, instead of $60.00 a carton they will mostly be closer to 80.00 cruise lover |
