Fuel prices along the Alaska Hwy?
we were in the Anchorage area, Homer, Seward, Kenai Peninsula areas in late
July. The price for unleaded gas was in the 2.05 range...US dollars -- jtc "Richard Scott" wrote in message om... Can anyone give me an idea of current prices for both diesel and gas at various places along the highway? Or at least one fuel or the other at some of the following places (maybe someone will fill in for the other fuel or other places?) Dawson Creek, Ft. Nelson, Whitehorse,Tok & Fairbanks. & please state currency. Thanks. Richard Scott |

Like I said, the prices vary from station to station there just like any place else. I had to buy at one station in Alaska that was $2.53 a gallon & had to buy at one station in California that was $2.61 a gallon. In both cases, I only bought enough to get me to the next larger market - thus lower prices. Tom J |

Tom J Can't speak for Alaska, but I did the trip as far north as Whitehorse in summer 2002, and one of the things which surprised me was that fuel prices weren't dramatically higher in the remote areas relative to the large population centres (unlike what happens in both California and Australia). For what it's worth, in 2002 fuel prices on the Alaska Highway (north of Fort St. John), as well as the Cassiar Highway, were mostly about 20% higher than in Vancouver (mid 80s cents Canadian/litre, compared with about 70c). The absolute values will have changed but I'd expect the 20% difference would still hold. Whitehorse was no different to out on the highway. Blair Trewin |
