Egypt: Visas
We will be going to Sharm el Sheikh at the end of December (UK). I know you
need a visa and was told there were 2 ways to get it from the Web Holiday site (but no other advice) 1) Apply to Egyptian Embassy in UK or pay at entry airport (Sharm). 2) Pay at the entry airport (Sharm) Does anyone know how long the process is at the airport. Do you get forms on the 'plane etc. Any help appreciated. John McElroy |

Getting a visa in Egypt is as easy as sticking a stamp on a postcard, or in fact, not just as easy, because you have to stick two. Here's how it goes; while on the plane you get a card to fill in (name, country, etc.), at a counter in the airport you have to buy two stamps (price was 15 euro last week), stick them in your passport, give the passport and the card to the custom officer, and that's it. Regards, John. |

Exactly, I can confirm this. about 10 m before immigration were two booths that sold the stamps, I handed over the money (USD OR EUR only), put the stamps in my passport, it took about 60 s or so, then already I was in the immigration queue. NO BULL**** immigration, quick and efficient. /Anders -- Remove the obvious part before replying by mail please! |
