Tasman crossing by sea
Hi All,
My partner and I are planning a return trip from NZ back to the UK without using a plane. You may have seen an earlier post where I was trying to determine a way to get to Australia by sea - now we're looking at reversing the order and returning to the UK by sea and rail... So, is there an easy way to get across the Tasman by sea? I've taken a quick look at travelling on a cruise, and there is one heading over at roughly the time we want. That seems a particularly expensive option and we won't need the intermediate stops - 12 days and NZ$3000 seems a bit much for a 3 day crossing. As yet I haven't been able to identify a freighter that will only do the trans-Tasman portion. Cheers - Adam Cheney |

Looks like we're going to go for the cruise. It seems to be extremely difficult to book the trans-Tasman leg except on very short-notice, as the operators don't want to prejudice their chances of booking longer legs all the way to the US or Europe. Plus it will be a nice way to relax at the end of a lot of travelling... |
