That article is one point of view. It is not proof that science has
spoken that global warming is a myth. Posting a ten year old article
and acting like it is the last word, that science has spoken is
dumb.
Someone else could post links to thousands of science articles in
the
last ten years that have the opposite point of view. Whether you
agree
or not that there is global warming, science has not spoken that
global
warming is a myth.

Nor has "science spoken" as to whether man-made global warming is
real.

Talk about living in the last century! The "historical record" may
not change, but the tools used and the way the data is analyzed,
has, and history itself continues to march on, to the consternation
of those whose thinking has not. Ten years ago, DNA analysis
was experimental, cell phones were the size of books, and Pluto
was a planet. Given the rate of scientific advance in many fields,
the last ten years is like an eternity.

I haven't yet made up my mind about the extent of global warming.... I'm
thinking the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

BUT - to think we (the human race) can keep using resources and polluting
the planet at our current pace is insane. If you want to see the effects of
plastic on the environment, go look at the west shore of Cozumel where tons
of non-biogradeable plastic containers wash up every year. That is just the
stuff we see... probably not even 1% of the stuff floating around in the
ocean and it will be there for hundreds and hundreds of years.

"Global Warming" may or may not be true, but it is getting people to look at
the issue and I don't care how they get to the dance, as long as they start
taking an interest.

The funny thing is that we don't need to make drastic changes in the way we
live to have an effect. Change a few incandescent light bulbs in your house
and the result is amazing. Read

Science Has Spoken: Global Warming Is a Myth

I recall the big Y2K scam a few years back. My industry (Computer
Administration) loved it. Copanies scrambled to pay huge dollars to
people
like me to solve a ficticious problem. I am not sure who started the
whole
Y2K myth but you can bet it was likely a computer geek that got rich off
the
whole thing. Wanna know who started the global warming myth? Follow the
money.

You posted a link to an article written in 1997, ten years old, to
claim that science has spoken, that global warming is a myth.

Posting that global warming is a myth based on that article is dumber
than dumb.

Many people simply choose to believe what they want to believe. Whether it

I would take any of those claims with a big grain of salt!

Now, I've changed 99% of my lights with CFLs, inside and outside...
Our electric rates just about doubled in CT in the past few years. I've
experienced a very high failure rate with CFLs. Some only last a few
months. Some brands take up to 30 seconds to come up to full brilliance,
even
in a warm house. Every one of them contains a droplet of mercury, which is
needed to start the lamp. Imagine what the NEXT environmental disaster is
going to be in ten years when everyone switches to these lamps? Hint: you
can't buy thermostat with a mercury switch anymore.

I could not agree more bud. The sane hing to do would be to pay billions of
dollars on research and trillions of dollars on so called "fixes" to a
problem that does not exist. Now that is smart eh?

I posted one of thousands of articles. Believe it or not, everyone is not a
zombie that blindly believes this misguided theory.

So you think that there is absolutely no value in the Global Warming theory?
Throw it out as being worthless?

It seems to me that the biggest problem is that proponents of Global Warming
won't consider that it isn't the "End Of The World As We Know It" and
opponents of Global Warming say that there is no merit to any of the
research and conclusions.

Amazing how so many people can believe that THEIR view is the ONLY corrector
view and everything else should be dismissed out of hand.

So while the "No it isn't" people argue with the "Yes it is" people... the
environment continually gets worse. The extremists on both sides of the
arguments need to shut the Hell up and let the rational people in the middle
work on making things better. There is enough common ground to make a
start.

No less sane than sending even more trillions to Iraq to protect high oil
prices.

The world has lots of stupid people... even those who would be in position
to lose millions if people stopped them from polluting can get some people
to believe their claims.
