Institutions for Grants and Founding of Travel Expeditions?

Hello,

Does anyone could know some institutions/organizations in the world,
where travelers may submit their expedition descriptions and later
have possibility to be granted for some financing for the expedition.

Maybe there are some special foundation programs like this?

Please, reply if you know some links or at least the names of such
organizations.

The big gear manufacturers (like North Face) do offer sponsorships for
certain kinds of trips. You need to be doing something pretty unique, of
course, e.g., a first summit of some remote mountain.
