My husband (53) and I (48) went to Punta Cana in January and we loved it.
Gorgeous beaches, very friendly people, lots to do. We stayed at an all
inclusive (Iberostar) and found the food to be serviceable.... not like a
cruise, but we didn't gain any weight on this vacation either. The hotel
was the cleanest I have ever been to. We had our 1 year old grandson with
us and he was still crawling.. .never had a speck on his hands or knees!!
We have been going to Cancun every winter for the past few years, but the
hotel we usually stay at there got wiped out by Wilma, so we tried PC. I
don't know that we will be going back to Cancun. We liked PC better.
Hope it helps.
If you have any specific questions, please ask.
Momma

I heard (but never seen it personally) that it's not a good time to go
during "Holy Week".
Week of April 9th. Mainly due to reduced services (vacation for staff).
Also some hotels allow the locals to rent rooms and/or use the facilities
during that time as well.

My thoughts and it worked for us, NJ couple in our 60s.
We use American Airlines vacation, we like Sosua, and Casa Marina Beach
Club, an all inclusive. Great great beach Food is fine pools nice rooms
well kept, one issue we love/hate is sometimes our rooms are on the 4th
floor and no elevator...well we dont like it but we always feel its good
for us to walk the 3 flights up, l suppose due to my age I could request
and get a first floor room but it is good for me to use the stairs so I
bite the bullet .

We enjoy the fact that the small town of Sosua is right outside the gate
of the all inclusive resort so most evenings we take a long walk thru
town, have a cold beer eat at one of the inexpensive restaurants and
enjoy the town.
