History of the Jungfrau?
I am wondering if there is a book (prefereably in English, but German
will do) that gives a history of the Jungfrau Mountain in the Lauterbrunnen Valley of Switzerland. When the train was built, climber legends, etc. I am planning an independent research project on the area. Thanks in advance for any referals... Joachim |

I know of chapters relating ascents of the Jungfrau, but no book specific of
the Jungfrau comes to my mind. I found quite a few books related to your subject by doing a bolean search Jungfrau AND Eiger on the site of abebooks (I included Eiger in the search to sort out all books relating to "young ladies"...). You may also want to send a message to one of the swiss bookstores listed on abebooks. There is also a site on the history of the railway : http://www.jungfraubahn.ch/english/pages/FA/FA_GeZl.htm Good luck ! (my own site is mostly dedicated to mountaineering books, but that part of my site is only in french... sorry... http://www.livres-montagne.com ) Joachim V.
