Default inverness airport - OP - not a troll!

Thanks everyone for the various other links and information, when we go
to the highlands next year it looks like we will need to fly thru
london, if we plan on hitting up amsterdam.

If you'd like to see a little more of Scotland, don't forget you can also
fly to Amsterdam from Edinburgh airport, which easily reached from
Inverness.

Hey, this is the OP. my original question was most definitely not a
troll.

My apologies!

When I looked at the inverness airport website located at
http://www.hial.co.uk/inverness-airport.html, I could not find any
flights to/from Europe. The reason I posted here was because I wanted
to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

That's because it was the wrong website. I posted the correct site and
got no response from you.

well, to be honest, after I checked it out, I felt kinda stupid for
asking a question in a public forum that I should have found myself,
when I googled inverness airport I got the site that I posted, not the
correct one that you posted...

No you don't. Several Scottish airports have flights to Amsterdam,
some even have cut price flights.
Edinburgh A'dam with Easyjet
Glasgow - A'dam Transavia
and to NL, Aberdeen Groningen with BMI.

well, the wife prefers to fly thru inverness airport as we will be
staying near carrbridge, and the wife doesn't want to drive thru
scotland in the winter. She thinks it might be dangerous if it snows. I
personally would like to have a stayover in edinburgh, as I have never
been there, and it looks great. I guess we will have to figure it out
as we go...

Use http://www.skyscanner.net/ to find routes with cheap flights.

New routes are being added all the time.

Skyscanner is awesome, btw, thanks for the link...

I doubt if Inverness has been cut off by snow at any time in the last
century. It takes a very heavy snowfall to affect the A9 at all and
it's easily cleared.

The only bit that can ever be dangerous is the Forth Road Bridge in
high winds (at which point they will close it, at least to high-sided
vehicles). Happens about one day a year.

But it would be much more relaxed to take the train from Glasgow or
Edinburgh.

yes, as you and Martin have both suggested, we will look at taking the
train from either Glasgow or Edinburgh, depending on which airport we
fly into...

thanks again!
